Handmade Mafia tomorrow Nov.5!

Handmade Mafia will be held at Orange Hall on Nov. 5, which is tomorrow.
I am so glad that the location changed back to Orange Hall again.
I love how it is close to the Farmer's market, and it's nice and cozy.

After all that Halloween stuff is over, people's brains are shifting toward Christmas.
Craft shows are the perfect places to do Christmas shopping : lots of kinds of stores under one roof, you can get one of a kind gifts, no need to worry about presents doubled, and handmade goods make people feel special.

As this year's new creations, I made snood and scoodie.
What are they? You will see at the events ;-)
I will also post some pictures later, but now I have to go back to the sewing machine.

I will be bringing earrings and other stuff too.
See you tomorrow!

More Clay Stuff

I got more clay accessory orders.
I made the earrings a little bit bigger than usual.

sage green roses
The hardest thing is making colors.
I always mix colors to make the color I want, but sometimes it takes more time than sculpting, actually making shapes.
Because of this reason, I can't make the same colors but I can try making the closest colors you want.

This time, I think I did very well :)

Hydrangea is one of my favorite flowers.
I have three big Hydrangea shrubs in my front yard and they are beautiful.

Clay Accessories

Clay roses are my favorite and so as my customer's but since I have been doing nails these days, making clay accessories with long nails were challenging.
Luckily or not, I broke my right index finger nail so I sculpted clay before I fix my nail.

It's been a while since I made clay accessories so I had fun making them.
As some of you know, I use oven clay, usually called polymer clay.
You shape them and bake them in a oven to harden.
And after you bake them, you decorate however you want them to be.

Here are the finished pieces.

Scarf pin and earrings

brooch/ clip (you can use whichever it's suitable)

rings (I made the petals thicker for more durability)

Brooch/ clip in different color

matching earrings

Jinbei again

It took me forever to update this blog as I am so into nails.
I still take some orders and sew stuff here and there.
I made a pair of monkey pants for my friend who was going to attend her friend's baby shower.
And shortly after that, my other friend ordered a set of Jinbei that's also for her friend's baby shower.
It feels really nice when people remember my handmade clothing when they need something unique and special.

Her order was Japanese looking monkey pants

Her order was a set of gender free Jinbei for 6-9mo

another view of the Jinbei

Thankfully, I got quite a bit of clay accessories orders, so stay tuned for the next update!

The Charity Bazaar and Handmade

At the last charity bazaar that was held on April 2 at the EJCA was a huge success.
18 of us were participated in this bazaar and raised over $2200!
Some people baked, some handcrafted, some brought clothes, some cooked Japanese food, every one of us contributed a lot for this charity bazaar.
And also, we really appreciate the people who donated money, who donated stuffs to sell at the bazaar, who offered the place for us to have such a successful bazaar, and who came to the EJCA and shopped there.

I really hope this kind of event to be held in the future too.

The raised money and donations were donated to the Japan Red Cross for Earthquake and Tsunami relief in Japan through EJCA.

As for my handmade goes, I am only taking orders right now.
Here are some of the recent orders I've made.

Gorgeous earmuffs

4pairs of Monkey pants

spring tiered skirt

baby Monkey pants

Monkey pants and adult T

bunny hat

It's almost the time for Jinbei?
My kids are waiting for me to make them Jinbei for this year!
I kind of decided to make at least one pair each for my kids every year so I will definitely make some.
I got to go find some interesting fabric first!

Charity event at EJCA on March 19th

Since I saw a heart breaking news that just happened in Japan, I've been thinking what I can do to help them.
When I heard from EJCA about Hina doll festival and Sukiyaki night that will be held on March 19, Saturday, I got a good idea to collect donation.
I can sell my stuff and donate at the same time!
5 seconds after that I wrote an email to the president of EJCA and asked if there is any space I can use to sell my stuff.
She said you are so welcome to do so, and I got a space!

Here is the detailed info.

Wow, it's already in March

How long have I been gone??
Over a month!
Sorry everyone, I was away from handmade for a while.
I want to start my nail business soon and I've been busy trying out new products and so on but I am not quitting making stuff.
I think I am going to slow down a little bit this year as I needed family time and friends time so bad last year, so will make orders and whatever I like to make mostly.
So far this year, it's been good.
I went to eating and shopping trip to Calgary with my friends, I've been to swimming pool lots of times with my family, got to relax and have fun, and doing nails/ handmade.

As for the craft events this year, I am still putting applications together, so not sure which event I am going to participate in.
My goal this year is to open up my little salon in my house and showcase some of my handmade stuff (like accessories) beside my work space, but before that I need to get my basement done!
Since we( my family) have lots of hobbies : sewing, doing nails, clay, beads, drums, guitars, miniature model painting, it's difficult to have all the hobby rooms because our basement isn't that big.
Hmmmm.... what to do what to do....Que sera sera is my answer. lol
Yes, I am that kind of person :)

Anyway, these are order made stuff that I made today.
Size 3 dress

Bunny hat
Rosette head band

Hehehe, I am still alive!
Stay tuned for more order made projects. Soon to come :)

Spring?

No no, not yet..but it's getting warmer outside in Leduc, Canada.
Snow is melting and we get fantastic icy roads!
I have to wear skating shoes even though I don't skate :op

my oldest son sledding

scenery from my car

Although, my brain is filled with spring feeling.
I am sooooo waiting for the spring to come.
I went to fabric store the other day and bought springy materials for myself and can't wait to make clothes :)))))
To start with, I made a headband.
Light blue and red is my favorite combination.
Silk rosettes are gorgeous but I wanted to make it casual and springy, so I used cotton and linen.
And also I found some vintage trim laces at antique mall on the same day I went to fabric store, so I used a little bit of that and velvet leaves which I love.
To tell you the truth, I made this for myself :P, so if you want the same thing, feel free to contact me.

By the way, my friend invited me to a Chinese restaurant the other day and the food there were absolutely amazing!
I think it was the best Chinese restaurant I've ever been!
The restaurant itself was family owned and it's not fancy or anything, but the foooood! Just tooo good.
Here are some pictures of a part of what we ate.

I will definitely go back again..     SOON!

More pictures?
Yes, here is my cat :)
He is easy going and lazy and cute!
He looks kind of cool though, don't you think?

Snow snow..slow

It's been really cold and snowing a lot here.
Actually, weather is nice today first time in past two weeks.
I hope spring came earlier and summer would be nice and hot this year.

I have been slow these days and I only made several headbands.
I am sure I am enjoying my new camera though :)
Here are the headbands taken by my new camera.

It captures lots of details and makes my camera technique look good :P
I am so satisfied with this camera!

Because I love it, I am putting more pictures.
Here we go!

Kotaro is tying really hard!

I love baby knees!!
He wants to touch my camera..no, no, no!!

First creation of this year

Hi, how is your new year so far?
I got a new camera from my husband as a Christmas present and I am playing around with it for the last few days.
I really like taking pictures and the compact digital camera cannot do what I want, so I chose a digital SLC for my next one hoping to improve my camera skills.

First, I needed a camera case so I can take it outside to take pictures.
I took some rough measurements of the camera and made a first camera case.
It turned out good and I like it but need some touch ups.
I also made a matching cover for the strap and it looks much cuter and more comfortable: will sure use it for a while.
I think I am going to be a "Camera girl" (It's becoming popular in Japan).
So, watch out for the pictures!

These are the pictures I took with my new camera.
Even though I took them under crappy lighting, they still look 100times better than what I used to take with compact camera.
