Handmade Mafia July is coming up this Saturday

Hi, it's been kind of long time since I updated this blog.
The last event, The Works festival was fun except we ended up sitting in our tent for 2 hours in the awful thunder storm.
But other than that, I and my friend had a wonderful time.
There weren't very many people like I expected, but I got to meet lots of great customers.
Thank you so much for coming to see my store.

On the other hand, the next event is coming up.
Here is the info.

Clay again

Hi, the last Handmade Mafia was good.
Nice weather and lot of people come by to my stall.
Monkey pants got a lot of compliments as always and Jinbei drew lots of customer's attention.
And yes, I needed to have more variety in sizes.
But it's just so difficult to have every size. Ah well, I will see what I can do.

Clay stuffs are selling little by little so I decided to make more.
Several days ago, one idea popped up in my head, so I was so exited to see if I can make it for real.
And here I made it! These look exactly the same as what I had in my mind.
I was so happy so I took pictures of them with my favorite Fire King mug and antique doily.

And then, I decided to take more pictures of my work.

Ciao!

Order made Jinbei and baby bib

Hi, I have been working on Jinbei lately and here are a couple of Jinbei setup for a year old and three year old sisters.
They are adorable and nice to have in summer.
I don't think I wrote this in the last blog but Jinbei is Japanese summer clothes.
Nowadays, people wear them after having a hot bath (usually Japanese people have a bath bofore dinner or after dinner) and go out to see fireworks or summer festivals.
And you can just go right into bed after that :)

This baby bib works great and looks cute.
I made this for one of the order made baby shower gift.
I think I am going to make some for the events too.
Oh speaking of the event, I will be in for the next Handmade Mafia on June 12th, and The Works Art and Design Festival on June 27th.
I will post the details right after this blog.

I want to make something for Canada Day too.
I haven't decided what to make with the Canadian patterned fabrics I bought lately, but I am going to make something for sure (otherwise I have to wait using these fabrics till next year. lol)

Anyway, weather has been nice and I hope it's going to last all summer.
Have a nice weekend and please come back soon to get the details of the events.

Japanese style clothes, JINBEI

When summer comes, I want to make Jinbei.
Jinbei is casual clothes that have been worn in summer since long time ago.
They are easy to wear and so cool in summer.
Especially in wet, humid, hot Japanese summer.
Canadian summer is cool and dry already, but still nice to wear Jinbei on a hot day like yesterday.
My kids always wear Jinbei as their pajamas.
You can go out wearing Jinbei of course.

I made only Jinbei tops because I wanted you to wear them outside with your favorite bottoms.
As I thought wearing Jinbei tops and bottoms at the same time make them look more pajama-ish..

Anyway, here are a couple of Jimbei I made.
I coordinated them with one of my Monkey Pants.
Aren't they cute?
I put yo-yo and pom-pom trims on pockets so they look more like outside wear.

Believe me, your children won't be able to stop wearing Jinbei as well as Monkey Pants since they are too comfy.

Tops

I was thinking about making some tops for the monkey pants.
Monkey pants got a lot of compliments from customers at the last Handmade Mafia show, so I thought it would be more fun if you can coordinate and buy matching tops and monkey pants.

Here are some samples I made.
Girls puffed sleeve t-shirt.

This cow pattern look so cute with green dotted fabric, do you think so too?
Pattern on pattern looks so much fun, unique, and one of a kind.
I can't make the same ones because my fabric stock is so limited and I don't usually get a hole bunch of one kind of fabric.
Aaaand, they are imported from Japan!
So it's truly one of a kind.
As for the Japanese fabrics, first, the pattern is so cute and second, the quality is really good and last, they are just so different and unique especially in Canada.
At the same time, I have a lot of fun making those as every time it's different!

Size varies from about 6months-3yrs for the monkey pants, and 1-7yrs for the tops.
This is what I am thinking to do now.
And if time allows, I want to make some hats and accessories for kids and mama.

Stay tuned, I made some cool pants and tops for boys too :)

New stuff

I have been making monkeys of course, and last night I made new things.
This pyramid shape little stuff is a key holder.
There is a slit on the bottom and a key ring inside so you can put keys.
I really like it because I have a lot of keys (usually, a car key, home key, and post box key) and usual flat key holders aren't big enough to put all my keys.
And also they look cute. You can even use them as home decor.
I might want to put more additions though. It's just too simple for me.
Anyway, I will bring lots of new stuff to the next show.
